Thank you for going and exploring the Reality Check – I am thrilled you tried it with your students. You asked about the occupations? Go to the Texas Workforce Commission’s Socrates http://socrates.cdr.state.tx.us/ - once this comes up – hit the “View Occupational Profiles” button

Step One - Choose the full narrative so the students can see everything about the occupation – the full narrative will give you general job descriptions, method of entry, nature of the work, working conditions, employment outlooks in Texas and the Nation, knowledge and skills needed, job sites, abilities and work activities, training and other places you can get information.

Step Two - In each region in Texas – the students will see that wages may be different for the same occupation – choose an area – the map will show you the corresponding number and area name.

Step Three – Choose an occupation – look at all the Standard Occupational Codes – the occupations are listed in alphabetical order. The wages and occupations are connected to the Reality Check program.

I am a teacher and used the Reality Check website for a career exploration workshop. We found it fun and very informative. Where do you find the occupation information?
